How the network group operates
The network group consists of 20–25 executives at the same level of management. The group meets 5–6 times a year. One of EGN Hong Kong’s experienced chairs looks after the operation of the group and chairs the meetings to optimise the use of time and ensure everyone benefits.
You set the agenda
The group sets the topics its members wish to focus on and develop. Topics covered can be shared challenges, whether of a strategic or operational nature. Other topics could be the latest trends in the members’ specific field. The work of the group uses its members’ own cases as the starting point. External speakers offer insight into areas where there is a desire to bring in outside expertise.
Keeping in touch between the meetings
In between meetings, the group can make use of the group’s own closed, confidential member website, with contact data, a calendar, minutes, group e-mail function and much more. The group’s website is a repository of knowledge – among other things through uploaded presentations and cases.
Acceptance of new members
The group must approve new members. What happens in practice is that an application for admission is sent to the group by the chair. It is, however, rare for a group to reject the admission of a new member. If this does happen, it is generally due to perceived conflicts of interest with competition or suppliers, which make it difficult to talk openly in the group
